Want your characters to leap off the page? Focus on making their dialogue sound as real as possible. Here’s how:

Listen to Real Conversations: Eavesdrop (politely!) at a café or watch interviews. Notice the flow, interruptions, and casual language people use.

Avoid Overloading with Information: People don’t usually say everything they’re thinking. Keep it concise and natural.

Use Contractions: In everyday speech, people often shorten phrases—“I’m,” “can’t,” “you’ll.” This helps dialogue feel more authentic.

Break Up Long Speeches: If a character has a lot to say, break it up with actions or interruptions from others. It’s rare for someone to speak uninterrupted for long.

Remember, great dialogue reveals character and moves the story forward. Happy writing! ✨
